Roastit Bubbly Jocks

While attempting to juggle finishing my dissertation, friends in town, and job application season, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to discover someplace great in my own neighbourhood - Roastit Bubbly Jocks. I still have no idea what the hell the name means; I keep meaning to ask but keep forgetting. It’s a vicious cycle. It’s literally a seven-minute walk from my doorstep, and I’ve been in more than a half dozen times in the last few weeks. I wanted to give them a full write-up, as the food is seriously that good, so I’ve had to make several trips of late to get all the pictures I could. Here are the four that turned out the best.

First, I must say that the place has a truly amazing Scottish fry for breakfast, but the pics didn’t really turn out. Bollocks. But thankfully, here’s a decent one of the French toast, which is honestly the best I’ve had in years. Shown here with banana and Nutella:

My buddy Norm did me a solid and ordered the full rack of ribs so I could get a picture, and it did not disappoint. The knife arrives in the board like this, we didn’t stage it. Good sauce and quite tender, as I sampled a few for a starter.

The mussels have been an absolute favourite of mine, I’ve ordered them several times now. These are served in a garlic cream sauce that really took me by surprise. They don’t skimp on the bread either, and I must admit it’s my favourite part to sop up the cream at the end with it. Always served with a nice garlic butter as well:

And the dish that really sold me is the lamb shoulder. When we first came in for breakfast, a few gents had ordered this and I had to stop the waiter and asked what the hell they had ordered. It comes with a creamy mash and some delicious veg, but the magic is that this lamb is so tender it just melts under your fork. The jus was unexpectedly rich and flavourful, I seriously recommend this dish if you want to feel spoiled, like a pretty pretty princess:

Lastly, I have to add that the prices here will blow you away. Their summer market menu ensures that snobby asses like myself can still eat gourmet on a budget, and they have my loyalty for that. I STRONGLY recommend you stop by if you’re in Partick (and sadly for me, I’m not getting paid to say that). Foodies never die. That is all.
