All Ends with the Beginning
Time to hit the ol’ dusty trail… I’m actually not going anywhere, but the blog is. I want to thank those of you who have actually kept up with this project over the last four years. It’s been a real hoot. But the truth is, with the PhD I just don’t have the time for it anymore. I thought I could manage a monthly post, but my time just sort of gets away from me now. I seriously thought that the PhD thesis would be like a long, extended master’s dissertation. It isn’t. At all. These projects consume us. Setting aside time once a month to cook something exciting and innovative (at least for my home), photographing the process, and then writing up the experience is something I just don’t have time for anymore.
Don’t misunderstand, I still cook. I still experiment and teach and learn. I’m doing all the things a Foodie should do, I just don’t have the time to document my experiences in the way the blog deserves. It’s been a great education in what kind of content people like, when people are more or less likely to click on your ads, when to post, etc. And for that, I’m grateful for the participation of so many of my friends – which is why I’m not really going anywhere.
In the next week or so, I will be launching a new blog in which I hope to provide commentary on politics and current events. It’s far more in my ballpark, I don’t have to photograph anything, and there’s very little planning involved. You’ll literally be getting my stream of consciousness in response to the world. You poor bastards.
So thanks for sticking with me, and I do hope you’ll all join me on this next project. Though the blogs may fade, Foodies never die. That is all.
